Hello! I’m Shibui, a philosopher, writer, and artist based out of California and this is my blog: Sour Revelry. Thanks for taking the time to stop by!

This is a blog about bitter truths and the celebration of all things resting at the fringes of human consciousness. Through deep reflection, exploration of abstract concepts, and a healthy dose of antiestablishmentarianism, I’ll write about anything I think is fresh, relevant, or otherwise wicked cool.

You can expect things here to be raw as the bloodiest steak you can order and washed down with a shot of whiskey. No hard and fast rules — just stream of consciousness. There are times when I’ll endeavor to discover things about myself and the world around me. At others, my interests may shift to discovering new music, movies, or games and dissecting them to find out what makes them important or, otherwise, disappointing. At all times, however, I’ll be honest, regardless of who might be listening.

Life begins to reflect art as people slowly begin to associate the various aspects of their lives with things from popular culture, even going as far as to vilify those that are different or think differently from this prescribed normalcy.

Rather than creating an alternative, we’re creating a sect — a cultural trap to reign in those on the fringes so that individuals who want to wake up can shut their eyes and go right the fuck back to sleep.

Those we revile, we may hate without end; people we cherish pass away never knowing they were loved at all.

Meaning

Our world is chaotic and often unpredictable and it’s not avoidance, but confrontation of difficulty — enduring of hardship and pain that can lend one strength.
